Counseling & Mental Health

Hello, Bryant families! My name is Leigh Wood, and I’m the school counselor at Joe K. Bryant Elementary. This is my 5th year here as the counselor and my 12th year in education overall. I have a degree in Psychology from the University of North Texas as well as a Masters in Counseling from Texas A&M University-Commerce.

The counseling program at Bryant Elementary follows the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling. This model focuses on four main components:

·         Guidance Curriculum

·         Individual Planning

·         Responsive Services

·         System Support

My goal is to help support the social-emotional needs of all students as they grow and develop, as well as help create a safe and comfortable environment for children to best learn.
